Natural Gas Fired Auto-Production power plants
First investments were Natural Gas Fired Auto-Production power plants at two of our factories at Thrace near Istanbul in 1998. These identical 5 MW natural gas co-generation plants supply all the electricity needed by the factories of Akın Tekstil and Edip İplik, and excess electricity output is transferred to Istanbul plants. Exhaust gases from the co-generation plant is utilized for heating and for providing heat for processes in the plants.

Renewable Energy
Akın Holding has always believed in environmental preservation and the ecological benefits of producing energy from renewable sources. In year 2000 with the permission and according to the guidelines of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (MENR), and acceptable international standards, 11 meteorological stations have been set-up around the country in order to asses wind conditions for possible wind farm developments in 6 geographical regions. After the measurements Akin Holding has applied for licenses to build wind farm on the sites which were suitable for production. |

| Recently Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) has granted Akin Holding license pre-permissions for three sites. These sites are in Mugla - Bodrum, Izmir – Aliaga and Icel – Silifke. Studies are being prepared for developing these sites. |
